Having A Blast

My name is Sam Abbott, and I am, along with Jeff, one of the Public Life Editors for the Voice. I am thrilled to be helping to develop the Voice. I can’t wait to see the project broadcast the thoughts, arguments, and concerns of the brilliant and passionate Harvard community.

Throughout my three years at Harvard, the lectures are sometimes unfulfilling and the sections sometimes vapid, but the people have never failed to amaze me. Apart from the fact that everyone here loves Jay-Z, and that not enough people believe me when I say Positive Psych is an awesome AND substantive course, I have loved every minute spent meeting and getting to know other Harvard students.

I believe the Voice is a big step towards fully celebrating and appreciating the intellectual diversity and strength here, and I can’t imagine a better way to spend my time outside the classroom. The first print issue has been a blast to produce, and I think the second will be even better. Finally, for me, the potential of the website is extremely exciting, and I really do hope you get involved!

I am a junior in Dunster and an Ec concentrator, which means I am currently spending most of my time in my cramped fifth-floor bedroom attempting to figure out the intricacies of scholarly papers I can’t possibly hope to fully comprehend, but which I can cite flawlessly in any argument conducted over e-mail or over drinks.

I love to travel, I eat Boloco twice a day with no regrets, and I urge you to revisit ER, the greatest television show of all time. If you see me around campus, ask me about Kleös, my awesomely titled rock band in which I sing, play kick drum, and occasionally press pause to bust out a brutal guitar solo when my roommate can’t handle it.
